Ubuntu 7.04 Wins a “100 Best Products of 2007 Award” from PC World

LONDON, May 23, 2007 – Ubuntu 7.04, commercially sponsored by
Canonical Ltd., was honored by PC World with a 100 Best Products of
2007 Award. The article is available now on PCWorld.com, and will also

June 12.

How to restrict users to SFTP only instead of SSH

Sometimes you want to have users, that have access to files on your server, but don’t want them to be able to log in and execute commands on your server.

This is done quite easily.

Add user as usually and assign him a password. Then run the following command (replace the ‘username’ with real user name):

root@host # usermod s /usr/lib/sftpserver username

Installing VMware Tools in Fedora Core 6

Install software called by by VMware Tools

yum install gcc

Install kernel header files

yum install kernel-devel

Check it matches the running kernel

uname -r # running kernel
rpm q kerneldevel # installed kernel headers

It the two versions do not match, run

yum y upgrade kernel kerneldevel

then reboot (but only if they did not match).
